Aldi is opening four new stores today in huge expansion – see list of locations
Aldi is set to open four new stores today – creating 100 new jobs in the process.
The stores are located at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, Hetton-le-Hole in Tyne and Wear, Ashton-in-Makerfield in Greater Manchester, and Macduff in Banffshire. These are part of the 11 new stores previously announced by Aldi. Each new store will be opened by a Team GB Olympic medallist and the athletes will also give out bags of Aldi’s Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.
Aldi has a long-term target of opening 1,500 stores across the UK, with the supermarket investing £800million in its expansion. This follows a series of store openings in recent weeks, including new locations in Sedgley in the West Midlands, Horsham in West Sussex and Muswell Hill in London.

In September, the supermarket chain announced a list of "wish list" locations where it would like to open new stores. Aldi says it is searching for freehold town-centre, edge-of-centre, and retail park sites suitable for property development.
The sites should be able to accommodate a 20,000 sq foot store with around 100 parking spaces. Ideally, the location will be near a main road with good visibility and access. If you believe a site could fit Aldi's requirements for a store, you can email the retailer at: realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk.
Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: “Our new store openings are a testament to our ongoing investment in the UK, and we’re thrilled to bring Aldi’s unbeatable prices to even more communities just in time for Christmas. To be opening four new stores in one day is an outstanding effort from the team and shows just how serious we are about bringing more stores to communities up and down the country.”
It comes as Aldi is gearing up for the busy Christmas season – and its stores will be open for longer so shoppers have more time to pick up everything they need. Its shops will open from 7am until 10pm on Saturday, December 21st and Monday, December 23rd, while on the Sunday, December 22nd, shoppers can visit between 9.30am and 4pm.
On Christmas Eve, stores will be open from 7am until 6pm. They'll be shut as normal on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Then on on New Year’s Eve, stores will be open until 6pm, before they close again on New Year’s Day.
