Boots urgently recalls kids product over fears it could make children sick

Boots is recalling packs of kids vitamin gummies over fears they could cause allergic reactions.

The high street retailer is pulling its own-brand Kids Daily Health Multivitamins Strawberry Flavour Gummies because they have been mispacked with gummies that contain soya.

This means they’re not suitable for anyone with an allergy to soya.

Symptoms of allergic reaction can include vomiting, stomach cramps, indigestion, diarrhoea and, in severe cases, anaphylaxis.

The particular product that is affected contains 30 gummies, has the batch code 82221103 and best before date of May 17, 2024.

Boots has also explained how the gummies will also be orange in colour instead of being red.

Children who are allergic to soya are advised not to eat these particular gummies, which retail at £5.

Instead, you should return it to your nearest Boots for a full refund. You won’t need a receipt to get your money back.

If you have any questions, you can call the Boots Customer Care team on 0800 9150004.

Boots said in a statement on the recall notice: “We are recalling Boots Kids Daily Health Multivitamins Strawberry Flavour 30 Gummies due to it containing soya which is not mentioned on the label.

“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.”

For all product recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency website which lists all the potentially dangerous items that have been removed.

You should also notice recall notices in stores if they've pulled a product from shelves.

When a supermarket product is recalled, you usually don’t need your receipt to get your money back.

But if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

In more high street news, Tesco recently pulled one of its grated cheese items as a precautionary measure, over fears it could contain pieces of plastic.

The affected product is the Tesco Creamfields Grated Cheddar 500g with a best before date reading 23/03/23 which may contain "small pieces of clear, soft plastic which could make the product unsafe to eat".

M&S has pulled packs of its own-brand Belgian Dark Chocolate Bar over fears it could cause allergic reactions.

The product in question is 180g in size, has the batch code 29087570 and best before date of November 9, 2023.

M&S said some packs of this chocolate contain milk which is not mentioned on the label, which could be bad for those with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
