Britain’s best boss gives staff extra month’s pay for Christmas worth £2,430
The boss of a PR firm has been praised by his staff after giving them a Christmas bonus worth one month’s salary.
The average bonus for employees at Stone Junction is worth £2,430 per person – and workers are eligible even if they’ve only just joined the company. The bonus is calculated based on how much of the year you have been working at the company, so someone who has been there for the full year would get one extra month salary, while six months would earn them half a month.
Richard Stone, managing director of Stone Junction, which is based in Stafford, said the generous reward is to thank staff for their hard work. Stone Junction has 36 employees and also has offices in Germany and Romania. Jessica Phillips, 30, an account director, has worked at the company for nine years and will use the money toward paying for Christmas and saving for her wedding.

She said: “It’s a really nice recognition of all the work we’ve done this year. It will make a big difference. Everything is always more expensive at Christmas time, so it's good to have the extra money in the bank. It will help toward Christmas presents and topping up my savings. I’m saving for a wedding.”
Courtney Cowperthwaite, 28, who has worked at Stone Junction for six years, is also saving to get married. She said: “I already know I can allocate a bigger portion to my savings than I would. It really takes the pressure off especially at this time of year when you have bigger outgoings.”

Richard, who has previously made headlines after giving staff a £1,000 bonus to cover their bills during the cost of living crisis, said: “At Stone Junction, company culture is at the heart of everything we do. Our success is built on the dedication and expertise of our team, and this bonus is a reflection of their hard work and the incredible results we’ve achieved together this year. It’s also a way of showing our gratitude and fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued and appreciated.”
Brits are expected to spend £563.90 on Christmas this year – including food, gifts, decorations, socialising and travelling. But as well as Christmas coming up, the bonus comes at a time when energy bills are due to rise again. The Ofgem energy price cap is rising by 1.2% from January 1. This means the average dual fuel household paying by direct debit will see their annual bill go up from £1,717 a year to £1,738 – an increase of £21.
Council tax bills in England are also set to rise by up to 5% next April, after the Government confirmed it was keeping a current cap on increases. It means the average household could see their council tax bill rise by more than £100.
