UK’s best boss showers staff with £20,000 of Christmas gifts and Maldives holiday

A boss has splashed out £20,000 on Christmas gifts for his staff – including a Rolex watch.

Benjy Leslie, 25, who is CEO and founder of influencer and marketing agency Connect Management, runs a "Santa Leslie" incentive where members of staff who have made the highest revenue that day get to pick out a present. The gifts range from Celebrations, Lego, headphones and a Rolex watch.

Benjy also recently took the team to Disneyland Paris for their Christmas trip. Benjy set up the business in 2019 and has previously rewarded his team with holidays to places like the Maldives. He expects his team of influencers to make £18million this year.

Benjy, from Willesden, London, said: "I love giving back. Business owners sit on huge amounts of profit. For me it's about sharing my gratitude. I have got a really happy work force – with 89% staff retention. We wouldn't have profits if the staff were not happy.

"I took them all to the Maldives for the first year of the business doing well. I give a holiday away every month. It's a tombola. It gives people that buzz and excitement. The more revenue they deliver to the business the bigger slice of the pie you get."

Benjy makes his team come in every single day to the office because he says working from home is "lonely" and "less productive" – and admits he does "expect a lot" from his staff. He said: "They understand what needs to be done. It's a super amazing team.

"A lot of work places people resent their bosses and come in and do the bare minimum. I don't feel we have that. You can't buy that loyalty from staff. You can only earn it by being genuine. We do expect a lot but we hire the right people. If I treat people well they will work harder for me."

Elsewhere, we recently reported on how Richard Stone, managing director of PR firm Stone Junction, awarded his staff with an extra month's pay this Christmas. The bonus is calculated based on how much of the year you have been working at the company, so someone who has been there for the full year would get one extra month salary, while six months would earn them half a month.

The average bonus is worth £2,430 per person – and workers are eligible even if they’ve only just joined the company. Richard previously made headlines after giving staff a £1,000 bonus to cover their bills during the cost of living crisis.
