Fury as Morrisons Christmas orders cancelled and customers unable to get discounts
Morrisons has been hit by major tech issues today, which have caused customers to have their Christmas orders cancelled with others not able to claim discounts on their shop.
The supermarket said its More Card loyalty scheme and its click-and-collect orders are mostly affected by the issue. Social media users say their discounts are not working at the till with one disgruntled shopper took to social media to share that they had ended up paying 69p for carrots instead of 10p because of issues with the service. Reports on Downdetector show over 300 customers flagged a problem with their Morecard today.
Another shopper wrote on X: "I've just wasted an hour of my life shopping at Morrisons only to find out by checking my receipt that I've been charged £40 more than I should because the More Cards aren't working. No communication at all, so loads have probably overspent without knowing."

On the Morrisons Facebook page, people have also been commenting that Christmas deliveries they ordered a month ago have been cancelled. One person commented under a post advertising discounts: "Half my Christmas shopping isn't coming including the turkey and puddings and they were ordered a month ago."
Another shopper said they were informed that their click and collect order would not be available just 30 minutes before they were set to pick it up. They said on X "I’ve got a 9am click/collect slot, been booked for weeks. Just got an email 30 mins before, to say WiFi is down so cannot go and collect yet."
Morrisons told the Mirror that customers can get a 10% discount on their entire shop, if More Card prices are not registering in stores today, and that click and collect customers should wait for an email before going to the stores. The supermarket chain also warned that some home deliveries would be arriving late.
The Morrisons spokesperson told the Mirror: "This morning we are experiencing some system issues which are principally impacting some More Card discounts and Click and Collect orders. For More Card customers who have Morrisons Fivers to redeem, these will be done manually in store by colleagues. And if More Card prices are not registering, we will apply a 10% discount to the customer's entire shop.
"For Click and Collect orders, we are asking customers to wait for an email to inform them that their order is ready for collection before heading to store. Some home delivery orders may be arriving late today – and we will be communicating directly with those customers affected. We sincerely apologise to our customers for this inconvenience."
Earlier this morning, the supermarket's online website also went completely down with a message reading "502 Bad Gateway" when customers tried to visit the page. However, the website does appear to be back online for some shoppers.
Commenting on the issues today, Sue Davies, Which? head of food policy, said: "Just days before Christmas, Morrisons' customers will be understandably frustrated to find that they are unable to use their loyalty card discounts and that some online orders have been cancelled. Morrisons should work quickly to resolve these issues and ensure their customers receive their orders and are able to use loyalty discounts on their Christmas food shop."
