UK bank holiday dates in 2025 that could affect your benefit payments

There are plenty of bank holiday days coming up in 2025 – and if you claim benefits, then they may impact your payments.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HMRC don't pay out benefits on bank holidays – instead, you're normally paid early. If your payment date does change, you won't need to do anything different – you'll receive the same amount, unless your circumstances change, and your money will go into your bank account as normal.

Whether your benefits are impacted by bank holidays or not, depends on when you're due to be paid. For example, you’ll get paid Universal Credit on the same day each month, while Tax Credits are typically paid by HMRC every four weeks or weekly. Child Benefit is usually every four weeks on a Monday or Tuesday, while Carer's Allowance is normally paid on a Monday. Here are all the upcoming UK bank holidays for 2025.
