Asda slashes price of thousands of products in major cost of living boost

Asda is cutting the price of thousands of products from today.

The supermarket will slash the price of over 2,500 household staples by an average of 26% both in-store and online. Some of the reductions include Cathedral City Mature Cheddar, Dolmio Bolognese Sauce and Persil Wonder Wash. Asda is also cutting the price of some of its own-brand lines, including Asda Whole Chicken and Asda Salmon Fillets.

However, just because something has been reduced in one store, it doesn't mean you shouldn't still compare prices elsewhere to check if you can find it cheaper at another retailer. You can use websites such as Trolley.co.uk to help you check the latest prices.

It comes after rival Morrisons announced it has expanded its Aldi and Lidl price match initiative to include more than 500 items. The new additions include olive oil, coffee, eggs, single cream and pasta sauce. Morrisons says all items included in the initiative are the same price as, or cheaper than, Aldi and Lidl.

Morrisons launched its price match in February 2024 with over 200 products. The supermarket checks items twice a week and adjusts prices if necessary. Customers can find these savings in all Morrisons supermarkets and online – though Price Matched products aren’t available in third-party platforms like Amazon or Deliveroo.
