Morrisons shoppers say Christmas is ‘ruined’ as they continue to wait for delayed orders
Morrisons shoppers say that Christmas has been "ruined" as the effects of Monday's technical glitch head into its second day.
Yesterday, a major technical fault at the supermarket chain prevented shoppers from claiming discounts in stores through the More Loyalty scheme, cancelled home deliveries, and delayed click and collect orders. Of course, the fault came at the worst time for the supermarket chain, as December was set to be one of the busiest shopping days of the year, according to the market research firm Kantar.
Morrisons says the issue has been fixed and the shopping experience was "back to normal" as of this morning. A spokesperson told the Mirror: "Today the Morrisons store experience is back to normal, but all More Card customers will still get 10% off their whole shop instore throughout the day. Click and Collect and Home Deliveries are working as normal."
However, some of the delays from yesterday have continued into today and Morrisons shoppers have taken to social media to share their frustration with the situation. Some customers who were set to receive the Christmas delivery yesterday are reporting that they still haven't received it and have not got an update from the supermarket chain about it.
One customer posted on X – formerly Twitter: "@Morrisons My order was never delivered yesterday. This morning i received an email that you will delivered at 19.00. But the worst part is, most is missing. All my christmas eve main items. Those were ordered over a month ago. Not accceptable. I am crying."

Another shopper said their entire Christmas order had been cancelled and that it had "ruined" their family Christmas this year. They said: "Your company is a disgrace! You cancelled my Christmas delivery with my Turkey and the entire meal the night before Christmas Eve. No notice, just cancelled! How could your company do something like that at Christmas?? You have potentially ruined my families Christmas!"
Another person who had their order cancelled yesterday said they had to turn to rival supermarket Sainsbury's to cover their Christmas Dinner this year. They wrote: "Well @Morrisons, all I can say is thank heavens for @sainsburys as you cancelled Turkey, sprouts & stuffing from my delivery tonight – an order I placed in October. Ten people will thankfully still get their Christmas lunch, but I won’t shop with you again."
The Mirror has asked Morrisons what they should do if they have not received an update on their delayed Christmas order. We will update this article when we know more. A Morrisons spokesperson added, "We are determined not to let a single customer down this Christmas."
